Finding the Right Running Shoe

One of the most common questions we hear at Gold Country Run + Sport is: “What’s the best running shoe?”

It’s also one of the most searched phrases online. But the truth is, there’s no single “best shoe” that works for everyone. The real question is: what’s the best shoe for you? That’s where our process comes in.

At Gold Country Run + Sport, we focus on two core elements when helping you discover your perfect shoe:

  1. Comfort – the single most important factor.
  2. Balance – a deeper look at how your stride interacts with the shoe.

Starting with You

Every fitting begins with a conversation. We’ll ask about your training goals, how you plan to use the shoes, and whether you’ve dealt with any injuries. This context helps us understand what you need most.

Measuring for Accuracy

Next, we take precise measurements using Aetrex Scanning device.  Measuring for length, width, circumference, and arch profile. Why? Because many runners are in the wrong size shoe, which makes true comfort nearly impossible.

A Quick Look at Your Gait

Once we know your size, we’ll have you walk across our scanner. This simple gait analysis lets us see how your foot moves in motion and gives us insights into your natural balance.

Testing Options That Fit Your Needs

From there, our team will select about five pairs of shoes that match both your goals and what we observed in your gait. Then the fun begins: trying them on.

As you test each option, you’ll notice the differences in feel:

  • Do you prefer soft, plush cushioning?
  • A firmer, more responsive ride?
  • Or a balanced blend of both?

We’ll also watch for indicators of balance…  Whether your foot stays centered on the platform, if the shoe feels too narrow or too roomy, or if it simply disappears on your feet in the best way possible.

Your Best Shoe Is the One That Fits You

By the end of the process, you’ll know which shoe feels natural, supports your stride, and gives you confidence for every run or walk.

Because the truth is, there isn’t a universal “best running shoe.” The best one is the pair that fits your body, your goals, and your running journey. And at Gold Country Run + Sport, we’re here to help you find it.
